Movement Classes for Seniors: Yoga and ‘Healthy Spine’ in Bemowo, Warsaw
Small groups, mindful training and consistency over pressure
Xtreme Fitness Gyms in Bemowo is launching exercise classes for seniors: yoga and spine health sessions. This is a programme for those who want to take care of their fitness and wellbeing in a safe, consistent way – in small groups, without pressure, and with mindful guidance from specialists. Contrary to what popular culture, social media, and overly ambitious marketing might suggest, staying active after 60 doesn’t have to look like an audition for a sports campaign.
The goal is something repeatable and predictable – movement that improves mobility, strengthens muscles, and supports balance and coordination, all of which translate into greater independence in everyday life. The WHO emphasises that regular physical activity brings significant physical and mental health benefits, recommending at least 150–300 minutes of moderate activity per week (including strengthening exercises; for older adults, balance training is particularly important).
There is another dimension that rarely gets talked about: group exercise isn’t just about muscles and joints – it’s also about having a weekly rhythm and spending time with others. A simple ‘see you on Tuesday’ or ‘shall we grab a cup of tea after the session?’ can serve as a gentle, everyday anchor – especially when the days start to blur together. This often matters just as much as the exercise itself, because being active with others also supports psychological wellbeing: it helps relieve tension, lifts the mood, and the combination of routine and a sense of belonging makes it easier to keep coming back.
These classes are designed so that seniors can exercise in a calm, low-pressure environment, while still feeling that they’re doing something genuinely good for themselves. We see every day what a difference regular, gentle movement makes: fewer aches and pains, greater ease of movement, and a better sense of wellbeing. We want this to be a place where people come, exercise at their own pace and within their own limits, and leave looking forward to the next session – says Damian Sidło, franchise partner running the Xtreme Fitness Gyms club in Bemowo, Warsaw.
The classes are part of the ‘Sprawny Senior’ (‘Active Senior’) programme and begin on 20 January 2026. Local authorities are also encouraging seniors to take part, including District Mayor Grzegorz Kuca and the Bemowo District Board, as well as Council Speaker Jarosław Dąbrowski and the District Council.
